Roche Diagnostics GmbH
The Roche Diagnostics GmbH with its sites in Mannheim and Penzberg is one of the three German legal entities of Roche. With over 13,000 employees the company is one of the biggest national Roche organizations worldwide. The Roche Diagnostics GmbH makes a significant contribution to the most important Roche products and, therefore, to the patients’ quality of life through research, development, production, logistics and marketing. By combining synergies from the Diagnostics and Pharma divisions, the Roche Diagnostics GmbH is advancing personalized healthcare.

Mannheim site
Mannheim is the Group’s third largest site worldwide and one of its most versatile. It employs over 7,800 people. Located in the heart of the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region, the site benefits significantly from its integration in a dense network of research institutions. Mannheim is where the research, development and production of test strips and measurement devices for point-of-care diagnostics are based. In the global Roche Group network, the site also plays a leading position in therapeutics. In addition, it houses the Roche Diagnostics global logistics center.

Penzberg site
With more than 5,500 employees, the Penzberg site, south of Munich, is the fourth largest site in the Roche Group and one of the biggest biotech centers in Europe. Around four decades of experience have made Penzberg a competence center in the industrial application of biotechnology. Today the center is one of the leading biotechnology sites and a “Center of Excellence for Therapeutic Proteins” in the Roche Group. Here, Diagnostics and Pharma research, development and production operate under one roof thus contributing heavily to the success of personalized healthcare. Penzberg is responsible not only for pioneering research innovations, but also for the biotechnological production of major active pharmaceutical ingredients, as well as a large number of reagents and ingredients for all Roche diagnostic tests.
